Melissa Kent

Melissa Dawn Kent, 47, passed away on October 10, 2022 in Ocala, Florida. She was born July 5, 1975 in Bluefield, West Virginia to John Terry and Peggy Sutherland.

She worked as a cosmetologist for many years. Melissa was a creative individual and also loved painting.

Melissa is preceded in death by her father, John Terry; Paternal Grandparents: Sherman and Etta Terry; Maternal Grandparents: Willie and Neva Sutherland; Step Mother: Janet Terry; and Step Father: William “Bill” McLean;
Melissa is survived by her daughters, Ashley (Austin) Saylor, Carissa (Kevin) Kennedy, Tenisha Brown; son, Jayan Brandon; grandchildren John Saylor, Kaleyann Saylor, Ava Goodwin, Emma Kennedy, and Oakleigh Kennedy; mother: Peggy McLean; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held in Melissa’s honor at DeLand Open Bible Church on Sunday, November 6th, 2022, at 2pm, 2179 N Spring Garden Ave, DeLand, FL 32720 with Pastor Tommy Avinger officiating. All are welcomed to attend. The family will receive guests beginning an hour before the service.
