Melvin Harrelson

Ocklawaha – Melvin O. Harrelson, 81,passed away May 21, 2016.  Born February 28, 1935 in Fort Lauderdale, FL to James Ernest and Martha Lucille Teague Harrelson. He moved here in 1981 from Fort Lauderdale and has been an active member of the Ocala Sheriff Citizen Watch Patrol and volunteer/member of the New Harvest Church of God. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving for 18 years, and then was a Manager with the City of Ocala for 18 years. Melvin enjoyed fishing and was an avid puzzle worker.

He is preceded in death by his wife and sons, Vinny Harrelson and David Harrelson. Melvin in survived by his brother, Glenn Harrelson, of Greenback, TN; sister, Barbara Henderson, of Silver Springs, FL and numerous nieces, nephews and friends that will miss him greatly.

Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the New Harvest Church of God, with Pastor Jim Miller officiating. He will be later interred next to his beloved wife in St. Louis, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Marion County in memory of Melvin.
