Nancy “Nance” Ann Hoyt (née Titus), 74, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on
December 1, 2023, due to heart failure. She was born on January 16,
1949, in Port Jervis, New York. She was known by most of her friends as
“Nance”. Nance grew up in Red Bank, NJ and attended Red Bank High
School. Her parents owned Irwin Marine in Red Bank. She was a loving
grandmother, an artist, a collector, a freethinker, a strong role model for
independent women, and a thoughtful friend and willing to do whatever she
could to help someone out. She was known across Florida and the
southern states for her exceptional West Highland White Terrier dog
bloodline and breeding. People would drive across state lines to get one of
her puppies and she was very proud of her line. You couldn’t visit her
without having a dog following you around, licking your face or sitting on
your lap. They were a major part of her life. She also loved to work on her
farm, working on one task or another she would always be kept busy with
the “next project”. She believed in hard work and perseverance and tried to
instill those core values in those she cared about. She loved making
birdhouses especially and was thinking of making a Pinterest site to sell
them. She had an eye for detail and impeccable styling, and it showed
especially well in her home. Her love of horses and carriages was evident
as she used them in her designs. She could take a complete wreck and
make something beautiful out of it. Like a diamond in the rough Nancy was
able to see the beauty in something that the rest of us couldn’t. Nance
valued her friendships deeply and was very generous in constantly gifting
friends and family with the simplest of gifts just as an expression of her love
for them. These last few years have been difficult for her with battling
COPD as she wasn’t able to do as much as she always did prior and being
the independent woman that she was, that was very difficult for her. Most
usually say that now a person’s soul can be at peace. For those of you that
know her well, you know this would not be true for her. She’s probably
sitting somewhere mad because she wasn’t finished yet and still had
“things to do”. “Sun Meadow Farm” will never be the same. Nancy will be
dearly missed by all of us. Help us celebrate her life by attending the
memorial service which will be held on Saturday, February 24, at 12 pm at
Nancy's Farm located at 537 NW 100th Street in Ocala, Florida, 34475-
1031. Please join us in honoring and remembering her. Your presence and
support during this time are greatly appreciated. Nancy is survived by two
younger siblings, Susan Mickley and Channing Irwin, her two sons, Todd
Hoyt and Charles Hoyt, and a grandchild, Winter Hoyt. She was preceded
in death by her parents, Jean and Fredrick Titus and her older brother
Fredrick Titus. Please consider donating to Quality-of-Life Rehab & Foster
