Ola Mae Rushing Miller Boyette 103, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on April 13, 2020 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born February 5, 1917 in Baker, Florida to Bonie and Leah Rushing.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, John R. Miller, second husband; Howard Boyette, son; Jackie R. Miller, son in law; A.C. Perkins, grandsons; Kenny Perkins and Chandler Miller.
Ola Mae is survived by a daughter, Daisy Perkins; son, Randy Miller (Shirley) and son, Rocky Miller( Debbie); sister, Nobie Woods, 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ola Mae was known for her sweet, loving spirit and willingness to help others. She never met a stranger. Her love for her Lord and her family was evident in all she did.
She lived through many remarkable times in her 103 years on this earth, one being the 1928 “Killer Cane” that destroyed her hometown of Pahokee, Florida. Her family survived clinging to the top of a tree.
Ola Mae worked tirelessly to help build and support the Church of God of Pahokee by making and selling pies and cakes to restaurants in and around Pahokee.
In retirement years Ola Mae and John moved to Fellowship, Florida to be near family. John farmed and Ola Mae canned vegetables. She and John were members and supporters of the Church of God of Ocala for many years.
Ola Mae was truly loved by many and will be greatly missed . Her family will always remember her sweet smile and laughter and her undying love for them all. Go rest high, Nanny! Until we meet again!
