Silver Springs, FL (Littleton, NH) –

Omar Wendell Lucas Jr., 85, passed away March 27, 2016. Born in Littleton, NH on January 5, 1931 to Omar Wendell and Annie Hart Lucas Sr. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and worked in road construction for several years, he also worked for White Mountain Mack in Lancaster, NH. Upon retirement he worked for Presby Environmental in Whitefield, NH. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Velma Elizabeth Cassady Lucas; son, Russell E. Lucas (Jan); daughters, Deborah Doucette, Karen Garrett (Daniel), Connie Wilson (Robert), Heidi Moccia (Paul); sister, Jackie Gadwah; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several other nieces, nephews and friends that will miss him dearly.  Omar was predeceased by his father Omar Wendell, his mother Annie Hart Lucas, sisters, Lois Stickney, Donna Webb, Dodie Stygles, and brother Robert Lucas.

Omar Wendell Lucas (Blackie) was a man of integrity, he was strong, creative, and loved his family.  The 85-year-old father, grandfather, uncle, and brother, was an inventor and entrepreneur.  He loved to make things with his hands and was always designing something to solve a problem.  His hobbies included: fishing, hunting, watching the Red Sox, he loved camping, traveling, driving his truck, and spending time with family and his many friends.

With Blackie his family always came first. Many times we laughed about the covers he had sewn for mom’s couch and chair; he made her some maternity clothes with the leftover material, and clothes for our dolls.  He made sure his children had what they needed to participate in activities.  One Easter he used lampshades to make Easter bonnets so we could participate in the Easter parade.

Our father and mother were married in October of 1953.  She was the absolute love of his life. Our dad was a loving, generous, and kind individual, he could walk into a room and make you laugh, you were an instant friend and a friend for life.  It has been very difficult losing a father and husband with so many endearing qualities.
