Ralph Douglas Simpson, age 87, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on November 29, 2024. He was born on November 25, 1937, in Miami, Florida, a son of Ralph and Isabelle Simpson. Known by all of his family and friends as Rocky.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory: daughter, Robin Bryden (Beau); son, David Simpson (Patty); brother, "Jerry" Simpson; four grandchildren; Jessica McCord (Dylan); Kaitlyn Lowe (Phillip); Hunter Gaskill (Trent); Alex Simpson (Katelyn) and a bonus grandson, Tyler Bryden as well as four great grandchildren.
Rocky served in the US Coast Guard and US Air Force as well as the Reserves for many years. He joined the Dania Fire Department as well as the Plantation volunteer Fire Station in south Florida. Rocky was an instructor at the Florida State Fire College where he later became a State Fire Marshal before retiring. He grew up in Dania, Florida also residing in Ft. Lauderdale and Plantation Acres then moved to Dunnellon Florida in 1977. He later transferred to North Florida and on to Cairo, Georgia but found his way back to Ocala in 2020.
The family will be hosting a memorial at the end of December for all of his family and friends.
Countryside Funeral Home has been entrusted with the cremation arrangements.
