Robert Lee Westhoff, 86, departed this life on December 25th, 2020 in Ocala, FL. He was born on August 18, 1934 to Henry Robert Westhoff and Laura Birdie (Hendrix) Westhoff in Kansas City, KS. He spent most of his youth in Los Angeles, CA. He graduated from Lawrence High School in Lawrence, KS in 1952 and shortly thereafter entered the United States Army as a paratrooper. He, while stationed in Fort Campbell, KY met his wife, Edna Faye Burch. They married on December 24, 1953 and remained together until her death on June 4, 2014.
Bob and Faye had 3 children who survive him. A daughter, Terry Faye Spillman-Lentz and her husband Barry, Stephen Robert Westhoff and his husband Lee, and Dennis Keith Westhoff. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
After leaving the Army, Bob and family settled in West Covina, CA. He worked as a truck driver for Fuller Paint until 1957 where he entered the academy for Law Enforcement and upon completion went to work for the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department. There he remained until 1971 when he left California and moved to Missouri to join his father and brother in a family-owned Kraft milk trucking business.
In 1974 he acquired his Nursing Home Administrator’s license. This occupation took him from Missouri to Indiana and then to Florida which is where he worked until he retired in 1995. He and Faye then relocated to Troy, MO where they lived until 2003 when they returned to Ocala, FL to be closer to family.
Bob was an avid reader, loved doing crossword puzzles, watching football, putting puzzles together and watching Fox news. He also loved his family and enjoyed family gatherings. He was such an important part of his family and will be missed more than words can ever express.
As well as his wife Faye, Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his 2 younger brothers Bill and Henry, Jr and 2 young grandsons Christian and Shane.
The family will hold a private viewing for immediate family only at Countryside Funeral Home in Anthony, FL on January 16th, 2021 from 12:30 until 2:00. After, Bob will be cremated and will remain with his family until they can escort him to Central City, KY around June 2021 to reunite him with his wife at New Hope Cemetery. Date and time to be announced later.
