HAGA SR., ROY LEE
SUMMERFIELD- Roy Lee Haga Sr., 82, passed away in the afternoon of Christmas Eve, December 24, 2021 in Ocala, Florida. He was born May 11, 1939, in Odd, West Virginia to William and Pearl Haga. Over the course of his life, he lived throughout four states (WV, IL, MD, and FL) and he practiced a variety of careers including teaching printing at a vocational school, owning and operating print shops, a convenience store, and a restaurant in Titusville, FL called The Humdinger. He was happiest when he was spending his time with his late wife, Peggy, fishing, or playing poker. A notable collector, Roy saw the potential in everything and everyone.
He is preceded in death by four of his five siblings, his wife Peggy Lee Haga, his daughter Vanessa D. McClaugherty and his grandson Paul Wayne Cook.
He is survived by his youngest sister, Dreama Derry of Melbourne, FL; four of his five children (Carlie Clay of Summerfield, FL, Shari Bifulco (Tony) of Inverness, FL, Debbie Barrett (Gary) of Ocala, FL, and Roy Lee Haga Jr. (Sandra) of Raleigh, NC; nine of his ten grandchildren (Byron McClaugherty, Michael McClaugherty, Nicholas Cook (Sarah), Tonya Christian (Daniel), James Roy Johnson, Amanda Cebert (Craig), Elizabeth Holcomb (Brady), Nathan Haga, Olivia Haga; 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
A graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday January 4, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who wish to express sympathy consider making a charitable donation to The Pearl Project, an organization that provides adoption and foster support in Ocala, Florida and beyond.
