Ruth Daisy Williams

Ruth Daisy (Shipp) Williams was born April 20, 1936, in Martel, Florida, to James Monroe Boger, Sr. and Margaret (Shipp) Brotherton, she was the oldest of 8 children.

She has been a long-life resident of Marion County. Ruth worked in the Healthcare Field as a Central Supply Technician at Monroe Regional Hospital and retired from Vero Beach Medical Center in 1981.

Ruth married the love of her life Fred Williams on April 18, 1998, in Ocala, Florida.

She was strong in her faith as a Jehovah’s Witness and attended the Shady Oaks Congregation. She was known for her rambunctious laugh and greeted everyone with a warm smile and sisterly hug.

Her life had many obstacles, yet through it all, her love and caring for her family remained her focus. This is a wonderful legacy and a wonderful example to follow. Keep focused on what is truly important, not only when your life is easy, but when it is difficult too. Love and care for your family. Let them know in all the ways you can show them that you love them. Don’t let adversities or setbacks or any of the distractions of this world keep you from what’s important.

Proverbs 3:5-6 -- Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Ruth departed this earthly life on Saturday, March 15, 2025.

She is preceded by her parents, husband Fred Williams, daughter Sandra (Patricia - Pat) Williams, two brother and four sisters: James Brotherton, Donald Brotherton, Mary Gaither, Doris Brotherton, Lorraine Myers, Catherine Neely - Salisbury, NC.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory: Sister: Judy Lane Archer - Salisbury, NC.,

Sons: Chuck Miller (Precious) of Vero Beach, FL., and Anton Miller (Kathie) of Ocala, FL,

Daughters: Paula Miller – Clearwater, FL., Zola Allen (Al) of California; Sonya Miller of Tampa, FL. Ava Drisdom (Abe) of Lutz, FL.; Michelle Salter (Bill) of Land O’Lakes, FL., Ollie Shannon of Ocala, Florida

Cherished family members: Kenny Downing (Claire), Warren Phillips (Nichole) and Shedrick Phillips (Arnise) of Ocala, FL. Golden Girls: Bonnie Thorpe and Yvonne Chambers of Ocala, FL.

Ruth was the proud grandmother of 28 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, loving cousins, and cherished friends.

With so many cherished and loving memories, you will be missed. 

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at a future date by the family.
