SFC Herbert V. Lloyd (Ret), passed away on October 4, 2015. Born November 10, 1931, in Orange City, FL. He moved to Ocala when he was one year of age. Preceded in death by his mother, Zena Johnson; father, Herbert Lloyd; stepfather, John Johnson; and two great grandchildren, Austin Lloyd and Jacob Felever.
Herbert is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Margaret Brooks Lloyd of Chipley, FL; children, Patricia Lloyd, Oxford, FL; Herbert (Bet) Lloyd Jr., Dunnellon; Carol (Kevin) Jordan, Ocala, FL; Donna Lloyd, Ocala, and Alan (Diane) Lloyd, Ocala; sisters, Virginia (Ronnie) Sealy, Hastings, NE; Rose Otto, Genoa, NE; and Martha Gonzales, Colorado Springs, CO. He had 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, and many step-grandchildren. He moved to Chipley, Florida in 1992. He was of the Baptist Faith and attended Oakie Ridge Baptist Church in Chipley, FL, where he was the bus driver for the Footlifters Senior Group. Herbert joined the Army in 1947, after 22 years of service he retired in 1969. Charter Member, Tampa Bay 82nd Airborne Association; Charter Member, Emerald Coast Airborne Association. He retired from Merita Bread where he worked a sales route in South Marion County for 20 years. Herbert loved to play dominos at the Council on Aging, and treasured spending time with family and friends.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00, Thursday, October 8, 2015, at Countryside Funeral Home, 9185 NE Jacksonville Rd., Anthony, FL. Funeral service 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 9, 2015, at Countryside Funeral Home, with Pastor Doug Knight officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
