MS. SHIRLEY ANN HOFFMAN BABBITT, age 80, of Ocklawaha, FL, died in Hospice of Marion County on Tuesday, August 6, 2019.
Shirley was born in North Attleboro, MA. She graduated from Penfield High School. She went on to graduate from nursing school. She met her husband after nursing school and began her family in Syracuse, NY before moving to Freeport, ME and later to Ocklawaha, FL where she lived for 34 years. She was a devoted mother and loving grandmother. She loved gardening, being in nature, and baking. She dedicated her life to her grandchildren and spending time with her family. She worked many years for LL Bean in Freeport, ME and then worked as an account rep at Closetmaid in Ocala, FL. Shirley was daughter of the late Nels Earl Hugo Hoffman & Marion Hoffman, widow of the late Charles N. Babbitt and was preceded in death by her brother Nels Earl Hugo Hoffman Jr. (Ruthe), her sisters Jeanette Bengta Dillon (George), Marion Louise Trotto (Tony), her son Timothy S. Babbitt Sr. and her grandsons Joshua R. Babbitt and Christopher J. Babbitt.
She is survived by: 1 Son – Andrew J. Babbitt Sr. (Melissa) of Silver Springs, FL; 2 Daughters – Cynthia M. Babbitt of Winslow, ME and Debora F. Wickham (Mark) of Naples, ME; 9 Grandchildren – Timothy S. Babbitt Jr., Nicholas C. Babbitt, Amy M. Babbitt, Ashley S. Peebles, Andrew J. Babbitt Jr., William P. Benton Jr., Brandie M. Bussiere, Shelly L. Bussiere, and Aimee L. Taylor; 16 Great-Grandchildren; Several Nieces and Nephews.
Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, August 8, at 11521 SE 1 St Rd, Silver Springs, FL 34488. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Prairie Creek Conservation Cemetery, 7204 SE CR 234, Gainesville, FL 32641.
