RAY, Steven Darell
Ocala -Steven Darell Ray, 46, passed away October 17, 2017. Born April 24, 1971, in Pikeville, Kentucky, to Spencer and Ida Hinkle Ray. Darell lived in Marion County, Florida most of his life. He worked in construction, learning how to do everything from carpentry work to masonry to tile. He had a car audio and electronics business in Atlanta, worked as a handyman, and could fix just about anything that he put his hands on. In the latter part of his life, he and his youngest son Derek had a pressure washing and detailing business. He loved to fish and it is no surprise that his oldest son, Steven, became a captain of a commercial fishing boat in Key West. The best place to find Darell on a warm afternoon was on his front porch or working outside in the yard, often with his older brother Dan and close friends. He was a good man; loving, loyal, honest, and strong-willed.
He is survived by his mother, Ida Potter, his step-father Dan Potter; fiancé, Lisa Booth; sons Steven and Derek; brothers, Dean Ray and his wife Becky and Dan Ray and his fiancé Sue; and sister, Debbie Spicocchi. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews in Kentucky who dearly loved their uncle Darell. He is predeceased by his father Spencer Ray and older brother Donald Ray. The family will be holding a celebration of life in Darell’s honor in November. Please contact the family for details. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Darell’s name to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org.
Arrangements under the care of Countryside Funeral Home.
