Troy, SC - Sylvia Irene Hall, 78, passed away March 31, 2016. Born in Greenville,NC on April 23, 1937 to Eugene Andrew and Lillian Irene Warren Carroll.

She grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, California and Miami, Florida, where she married and started her family. She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1955.  They left Miami in 1965 and moved to Ocala, Florida to raise their children on a 40 acre farm they called “Hoot “n” Holler Farm.” In 1980 they moved to Greenwood, South Carolina where they have lived for the past 36 years. There they bought a 33 acre place in the Sumter National Forest with a creek, pond, wild turkeys and deer.

Sylvia loved old movies and muscials and was an avid history lover and genealogist who spent most of her time tracing her family and her husband’s family. She had a deep love and interest in her ancestors. She not only wanted the dates but wanted to KNOW them, their hardships, trials and triumphs. She had traced her family to many of the events that shaped our nation. Her family descended from the “Ancient Planters” Many of her ancestors fought for in the Revolution and one of her ancestors “Solomon Whichard” was with George Washington at Valley Forge. Her great-great grandfathers fought in the Confederacy and one for the Union.

She was a true “Southern Lady” her 3 loves were God, her family and her country.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, James Richard Hall Sr.; sons, James R. Hall Jr. (Brandy), David W. Hall; daughters, Kathi H. Vincent (James), Susan H. Geduld (Steven), Rebecca H. Werneth (Roger), Julie H. Fuller (Jeremy) and brother, Michael E. Carroll (Vickie); thirty grandchildren, fifty-one great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be 9:30 a.m., Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints, Ocala, FL with Bishop Brian Aven officiating.  Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in San Mateo Cemetery, San Mateo, FL.
