Tilla Ann Dupree
October 11, 1946 — May 21, 2024
Tilla Ann Scott Dupree was born on 11 October 1946, Jacksonville, Fl. When she was about 4 years old she went to live with her grandparents Wilbur and Alice Fife who had property on her beloved Big Lake Weir. She loved fishing, playing outdoors and swimming. She looked forward to the times that she would have visits from "Aunt Molly" and "Aunt Sara" because they were the only "children her age" to play with as well as visiting her Aunt Bobby in Georgia where she helped on the farm by harvesting and canning of vegetables. She attended Weirsdale School and Lake Weir High School where she was crowned Homecoming Queen in 1964 the year she graduated. She attended Central Florida Community College(CFJC) in Ocala where she met her future husband and subsequently married in 1966. After her husband graduated from the University of Florida in 1967 they moved with their 5 month old son to our Nation's Capital where she worked for Congressman Bill Chappell of Ocala during which time their daughter was born. Subsequently she had a 25 year career with the Central Intelligence Agency(CIA). Unexpectedly an opportunity presented itself where she and husband were able to obtain a property on Lake Weir where they retired. She enjoyed working the property, gardening and sitting on the screen porch watching the beautiful sunsets on the lake. She loved working out at the "Y" in Ocala and traveling the world culminating in her trip to Antarctica last year. Additionally, she enjoyed having her "precious" granddaughter Meghan visit her at the lake house.
She passed away May 21, 2024 at the age of 77 while visiting her daughter for Mother's day. She is preceded by her son, Stephen A Dupree and is survived by her husband Bill Dupree and daughter, Shannon L. Geary. A Mass in her honor is scheduled for 15 Jun at 10:00 at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, Ocala, FL. (where they were married) with a reception to follow at that location. A private burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Weirsdale, FL. Arrangements are being coordinated by Countryside Funeral Home, Anthony, FL.
