Vernon Andrew Tucker, age 78, of Belleview, Florida, passed away on June 15, 2024. He was born on August 9, 1945, in Cocoa Beach, Florida, a son of W.A. and Helen Tucker. He leaves behind to cherish his memory; wife, Eugenia Tucker; son, Will (Stephanie) Tucker; stepsons, Oscar (Katherine) Agudelo, and Juan Agudelo; grandchildren, Liam Tucker, Angelica (Bijan) Lindsay, Oscar H. Agudelo, and Samuel Agudelo; 3 great-grandchildren; and brother, Kelvin Tucker. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Melvin Tucker.
Vern attended Cocoa Beach High School, then enlisted in the United States Air Force as an aircraft maintenance specialist and retired after 20 years with achievement of Master Sargent rank and having received the Air Force Commendation Medal. He served during the Vietnam War and spent 10 years at Yokota Air base in Japan. After returning to Florida, he worked for the city of Ocala through retirement as the Maintenance Fleet Manager.
He completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Nova University. He was a talented artist in the drawing and watercolor mediums and enjoyed creating pieces with automobiles, and rifles. His other hobbies included streetcar racing and car restoration.
There will be a viewing for family on Thursday June 27, 2024 from 6-7 pm at Countryside Funeral Home 9185 NE Jacksonville Road, Anthony, FL 32617. A full military honors ceremony will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL where he will be interred on Friday June 28, 2024 at 10:30 am. A memorial service for friends and family will also be Friday June 28, 2024 at 12:30 pm at Gracepointe Church 6185 SE 140th St, Summerfield, FL 34491followed with lunch and fellowship.
