Silver Springs - Virginia W. Summers, 86, passed away October 3, 2016. Born December 17, 1929 in Buncomb County, NC to Governor Nelson Waldrop and Lois Mae Randall Waldrop. She owned and operated several retail stores and restaurants throughout her career.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Tommie Summers, grandchild, Lisa Early, and son-in-law, Ronald Leach.
She is survived by her son, Mike Early (Susie); daughters, Denise Stevens Leach (Ron), Becky Stevens McCullough, Barbie Stevens Merkley (Rick); brother, Butch Waldrop; sisters, June Fleming, Carolyn Tolley, Sarah Gasaway; nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and her beloved Chihuahua, Tink.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Countryside Funeral Home with Chaplain Warren Thompson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
