Died: February 7, 2016 in Hobe Sound, Florida from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
Ginnie is survived by her daughter Diana Lee Davis, her husband Robert “Red” Dunn and their daughter Ruby Grace Dunn; her son, Robert Eric Davis, his wife Elizabeth “Betsy” McCall Davis and their daughter Katherine “Katy” McCall Davis; her sister Linda Kimbrell Hutto, her husband Jerry “Ralph” Hutto and their family; as well as her nieces and nephews. Ginnie was predeceased by her husband William Brownfield Davis; her parents Wyman Otto and Thelma Reagin Kimbrell; her older brother Wyman Asbury Kimbrell; older sister Beverly Kimbrell Cunningham; and youngest sister Lorraine Kimbrell Vaughan.
Ginnie attended Granby High School in Norfolk Virginia and graduated from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. She brought joy and hope for her students as she taught developmentally disabled youth and adults at John T. Hoggardand CFCC in Wilmington, N.C., and West Mecklenburg in Charlotte, N.C. Ginnie had a second career as an accountant CPA and with a nonprofit in Charlotte, N.C.
Besides being with her grandchildren, Ginnie’s favorite experiences were theatre, dance and travel. She volunteered at both Thalian Hall in Wilmington and at the Charlotte Theatre. Her tap classes and performances sustained her. Ginnie loved to travel and was always open to the next adventure. As Mom, Nana, sister, teacher, and best friend, her love will always remain in our hearts and her kindness and joy will not be forgotten. Keep on dancing.
