Vivian Evelyn Jackson Nix of Ocala went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, November 2, 2017, at Legacy Hospice house in Ocala. She was surrounded by her family who loved her very much. Evelyn was born on November 22, 1931 in Atlanta, Georgia to Alvin and Gertrude Britt Jackson, the second of six daughters. As a child she had Rheumatic Fever which damaged her heart causing the doctors to recommend moving to a milder climate resulting in a move to Ocala in 1942 when she was eleven years old. She attended Ocala High School and later married Oscar L. "Buster" Nix on June 19, 1949 and they resided in Ocala for most of their married life. Evelyn worked as an advertising agent for the Ocala Star Banner for many years, then at various print shops until retiring in September of 1994.
They were blessed with six children (which included 2 sets of twins), eighteen grandchildren, and thirty-five great grandchildren with one more expected any day. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter Gail Francis and Gail's husband Jimmy; two grandchildren both of whom died in infancy; and two sisters Frances Deese and Shirley Arnold. She is survived by daughter Julia "Bunny" Peavy (Donnie), son Dennis "Bud" Nix (Andrea), son Dale Nix, daughters Terri Childress (Danny) and Sherri Gomillion (Johnny), all of Ocala and three sisters Flora Dean Gray, Peggy Hartley both of Ocala and Louise Kelley of Sparr.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Marion County and Kindred Hospice in Evelyn’s name.
