William P. “Bill” Hooks, age 76, of Morristown, passed away Monday, September 26, 2016 at his residence. He was a member of First Christian Church, a veteran of the U.S. Marines, and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee. Bill served on the Board of Morristown Parks and Recreation for 31 years and was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Lowe and Mary Pearl Hooks; brother, James Robert Hooks; and sister, Gena Hooks Ryan. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy Hooks; son, Darin Hooks of Avon, Ohio; daughter, Melissa (Dale) Barnard of Greenville, South Carolina; grandchildren, Alexander and Joshua Barnard and Liam and Abigail Hooks; brothers-in-law, Charles Ryan and David (Debbie) Johnson; one niece; and several nephews, great nieces and great-nephews. A heartfelt thanks to Dr. Rajeev Gupta and to Smoky Mountain Hospice for their care and compassion.
Burial services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 1, 2016 in Anthony Cemetery, Anthony, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Morristown Parks and Recreation Department or First Christian Church.
