Zion Joe Sarmiento
June 15, 2021 – October 8, 2021
Zion Joe Sarmiento was born June 15, 2021 at 4:43pm and passed peacefully in the arms of his
mother on Friday October 8, 2021 at 5:07pm. He was surrounded by his family who loved and
adored him as he entered into the arms of Jesus.
In his 16 short weeks on earth, Zion made an impact on so many lives from all over the world.
He came out of the womb with his hand raised toward Jesus and he never put it down. During
pregnancy we were told that the “cross of his heart is broken,” because Zion has a congenital
heart defect that is common with his diagnosis of Down syndrome. We never stopped
believing that God would give Zion a miracle. In reality, the “cross” of his heart was perfect. It
was other hearts that were broken. At the time, we didn’t realize that through his life “crosses
of the heart” would be fixed. People from many places have turned their hearts back to Jesus.
We will continually praise God for Zion’s life and how he taught us to lift our hands and give
God praise, even when times are tough.
Zion will forever be loved and remembered by his parents; Rev. Joshua and Bobbi Sarmiento of
Ocala, Fl; his big brother Josiah Sarmiento at home; his grandparents, Rev. Luis & Martha
Sarmiento of Orlando, FL and Dr. Bob & Debra Sutherland of Broadway, VA; great-grandmother
Pauline Addington of Richlands, VA; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at 6pm at Living Waters
Church, 3801 N US Hwy 441, Ocala, FL 34475. Dr. Bob Sutherland will officiate the service and
Bishop Clint Brown will lead us in worship as Zion would have wanted. In honor of Down
Syndrome Awareness Month, blue and yellow can be worn.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ignite Ministries, 3561 S Pine Ave, Ocala, FL 34471
or at facebook.com @IgniteMinistriesOcala. This will help share Zion’s story and to spread the
word of God to reach souls for His kingdom.
